It’s a pity that a whole Nigeria barrister as well as the Commissioner for Water Resources in Kwara State in person of BARR. ABDLRASAQ .S. AKOREDE was unable to differentiate between Scholarship and Financial Support.
This happened on Thursday 21st Dec, 2017 in Government Day Secondary School Amule, Ilorin, Kwara State where the Commissioner held a program titled as “The presentation of Award Scholarship” where SSCE Students as well as some intuition students was awarded #15,000 Naira as a scholarship for all the beneficiaries after some weeks before the program where all the students have been promised to be given scholarship. The question is that is #15,000 a scholarship for sponsoring a student’s SSCE of almost thirty something thousand naira neither will it be University fee for fresher students of a particular University in the State, am wondering how the amount will pays for the University Acceptance Fee talk less of the school fee. I think this should rather be called financial assistance and not a scholarship.
This program was done openly and was even advertised in the Radio Station for the Financial Assistance called A Scholarship in presence of many of his political counterparts in the state such as the newly Elected Ilorin East local Government Chairman in person of Eng. Abdulmumeen Lah, The Incumbent State S.A Political Usman Ajape Bibire, Alhaja Sarah Adebayo, Alhaji Shuaib Baba Jimoh popularly known as Baba Gbadun Gbadun, Alhaja Nimota Ibrahim, Alhaji Abdulraheem Oleshin and many more. And this will soon be published on net for campaign that many students were given scholarship in Ilorin East Local Government. My fellow people of Kwara State keep calm and think twice and wise.
