Lagos Promotes 8,000+ Teachers

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has approved the promotion of 8 thousand plus,  public primary school teachers.

The Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Ganiyu Sopeyin, on Sunday explained that the promotion had cleared the backlog inherited in the state primary schools.

Sopeyin stated that 10,851 public primary school teachers of different grade levels sat for a promotion examination out of which 8,617 scraped through.

He said the state government would continue to fund basic education to ensure qualitative education in the state.

He urged successful teachers not to rest on their oars, but rather let their promotion spur them to do more.

He said, “I urge you to renew service delivery to manifest efforts of the government to improve the standard of education.

“It is a known fact that since the present administration came on board, a lot of laudable developments have taken place in educational sector, which have gained local and international recognition.”
