Early this week University of ilorin rejects the new directives by the Kwara State government and kwara inland revenue of there newly introduced compulsory citizenship certificate for all the students seeking admissions into the institution.
According to a reliable source we had that the kwara state government and Kwara inland revenue condem the old citizenship certificate that has been in use for long and introduce a new one with kwara state logo at the rate of 3500.
We also had it that they have sent circulars to schools in Nigeria to reject any student who doesn't have the new kwara citizenship certificate.
And due to this many newly admitted Kwara state indigenes in Unilorin have not been cleared because they uploaded the former certificate of origin and the school management have already told the returning students to submit the certificate of origin form before course registration but the school SUG have settled the matter diplomatically with the school management and the school have agreed that we should continue using the former certificate of origin.
We also had that Kwara State student union are working with some NGOs to put a stop to this new development.
